Now that the initial round of games has concluded, the tennis community will be treated to some spectacular round of 32 fixtures at the Miami Open, which is underway at the Hard Rock Stadium. On her home turf, the former number 7 American player, Danielle Collins, will lock horns with the Russian tennis prodigy, Elina Avanesyan, in an exciting third-round game.

Collins and Avanesyan have both performed brilliantly to reach the latter stages of this esteemed WTA 1ooo tournament. Now that they will be looking for a spot in the next round, it will be interesting to see who emerges victorious in this spectacular outdoor hardcourt showdown in Miami Gardens.

After her round-of-16 defeat at the Indian Wells Masters, the American tennis star is back in another hardcourt tournament, where she is an unseeded participant. Playing on her home soil, Danielle Collins brushed aside some of the players of high caliber, including Bernarda Pera and Anastasia Potapova, in her initial round matches.

Elina Avanesyan, on the other hand, is now participating in the Miami Open after her first-round defeat at the BNP Paribas Open. In the opener, the Russian tennis player defeated her compatriot Erika Andreeva while scoring a bagel set, 6-0, 3-6, 6-1. Avanesyan then pulled off an upset against the 6th-seeded Ons Jabeur in a three-set thriller round-of-64 game.

The third-round match between Danielle Collins and Elina Avanesyan at Hard Rock Stadium will also mark their first meeting on the WTA Tour. With no prior confrontations on the court between Collins and Avanesyan, their H2H record is currently locked at 0-0.

On top of having a former number 7 ranking, the American player has won two WTA Tour singles titles. Given her vast experience and a brilliant 74% first-serve conversion rate on the hard court surfaces, Collins is the favorite to win this third-round match in Miami Gardens.

Avanesyan, who is currently out of the top 60 rankings, has won five singles titles on the ITF circuit, but she has yet to make a notable impression on the WTA tour.
