American tennis player Amanda Anisimova has decided to withdraw from the ongoing Cincinnati Masters. The player has suffered an ankle injury and will not be a part of the tour for possibly a considerable amount of time.

Her participation in the US Open, which she would not want to miss, will depend on her recovery period. The US Open is set to begin later this month.
Amanda Anisimova withdraws from the Cincinnati Masters
The American player has decided to withdraw from the tour ahead of the hard-court major. The player reportedly had an ankle injury, which hinders the American from getting on the court and play further rounds.

Anisimova had won the first round of the Western and Southern Open against Daria Kasatkina. She would have faced her compatriot Shelby Rogers. However, the world no. 23 decided to withdraw because of the injury and now there are doubts about her participation in her home Grand Slam event. Given her performances this year, she was a huge contender for reaching the latter rounds of the US Open.
Will Anisimova play at the US Open 2022?
The player performed quite well in the year 2022. She had also won a title at the beginning of the year at the Gippsland Trophy Tennis tournament.

Moreover, Anisimova reached the quarter-finals of the Silicon Valley Classic, Wimbledon, and Italian Open, among others. She had also reached the semi-finals of the Charleston Open. Considering her consistent performances in such tournaments, she was expected to be a ‘dark horse’ for the title at Flushing Meadows.
