Tennis great Martina Navratilova has never been one to hold back, both on and off the court. Despite walking away from the sport years ago, the 67-year-old has offered her expertise in matters related to the sport and in recent times, politics. Especially when the conversation revolves around former United States President Donald Trump, Navratilova is known to be candid.
Subsequently, the former Czech-American player recently took a sly dig at Trump after witnessing him showcase his golf skills. For the uninitiated, Navratilova has abundantly clarified her stance against Trump, and this time, the former athlete is taking a shot at his sporting skills.
In a tweet posted on X, the former World No. 1 took a potshot at the 45th POTUS ahead of the nation’s general elections. In retaliation to a video where Trump plays golf to blow off some steam, Navratilova addressed his on-field skills as merely mediocre. The 67-year-old notably stated that she could wind up executing better gameplay despite seldom playing the sport. “I play golf about 4 times a year but my putting and putting stroke is so much better than this old man’s.”

Trump has received backlash from the former tennis professional several times in the past. And to much amazement, she often voices her concerns over any comments or actions made by him. While she dismissed the idea of a possible political career in the near future, she never shies from backing out of a healthy dialogue addressing issues that concern the general public.
The legendary tennis entity also reserved a few words on Trump’s attempt at playing tennis. Naturally, she was in the perfect position to professionally judge the 78-year-old’s gameplay.
“A pathetic athlete” – Martina Navratilova comments on Donald Trump’s tennis session
Navratilova is widely regarded as one of the most formidable players ever produced by the sport. During her time on the WTA Tour, she pocketed several accolades to her name – amassing a total of 59 major crowns, singles and doubles, which forever scripted her name in the history of tennis. Consequently, a player of such stature doesn’t take kindly to anyone’s odious attempt at trying the sport.

In a video uploaded on X, Navratilova was seemingly irked with Trump’s tennis session. While replying to a user’s post that glorified the former President’s on-court skills, the 67-year-old felt otherwise and expressed that the latter was besmirching the good name of tennis and proceeded to take shot at his athleticism. “This is funny- neither tennis ball he hit went in, the pitch bounced before it got to the plate and they call him a legend? A pathetic athlete is what he is. Pathetic.”
However, if things were to take a turn, there’s a possibility that tennis world could witness the legendary tennis star deliver a few coaching lessons to Trump. Though it seems like a stretch, hilariously even, it won’t hurt the 18-time Slam champion to try and improve his on-court skills!
