Can you imagine how exciting it would have been, had Serena Williams and Martina Navratilova played against each other during their peak time? A fan on Twitter expressed the same desire and Navratilova excitingly agreed to it. The mere thought of the two tennis legends against each other on the court must excite every tennis enthusiast.
Both the players dominated women’s tennis during their era. Now they have become an inspiration for the present and upcoming generation of tennis players.

Martina Navratilova wished to play Serena Williams during her peak

Nonetheless, both players have established their legitimacy in the world of women’s tennis.
How did Navratilova and Williams change the face of women’s tennis?

The popularity of women’s tennis grew with these players. The corporate world then showed interest and started investing more in the sport, leading to better opportunities for the players. Apart from that, the sheer resilience of the two players became an inspiration for millions around the world.

Serena Williams won at the Australian Open in 2017 while she was pregnant with her daughter, Olympia. And, Navratilova, even after retiring from tennis, made her comeback in 2006 and won a grand slam title at 49 in the mixed doubles category at the US Open.
