2024 has been a mixed bag for Coco Gauff, as she has struggled with her form at times. But the year just got a lot better for the American star, as she received a massive shoutout from Tyler, the Creator. Gauff made it to Tyler’s recent single. The moment she got to know about it, Coco was overwhelmed with emotions. She is an avid fan of Tyler’s work and it was indeed special getting a shout-out from her favorite artist.
What makes the new-found recognition even more fascinating for Coco Gauff is the fact that her role model Serena Williams also found a mention in a musical track, not too long ago! In one of the latest episodes of Tennis Weekly Podcast, dated October 29th, the show’s hosts and insiders discussed Gauff finding a mention in Tyler, the Creator’s song called, ‘Thought I Was Dead.’ While reflecting on Coco Gauff’s rising popularity, one of the insiders Christopher Kneebone recalled how Serena Williams was also mentioned in one of Drake’s popular songs titled ‘Too Good’.
Talking about the entire incident on how Coco got the news initially, Kneebone said, “Coco Gauff actually was practicing and then she found out just after practice that she got a shout-out on Tyler, the creator’s new single. So I mean, that means you’re making it somewhere.” He then drew a comparison with Serena and said, “Serena was referenced by Drake and many others in rap songs previously, but now Coco Gough has made it onto a track.”

Around the 28-second mark in the song, the lyrics go, “B**ch, you ain’t Coco Gauff, you can’t serve me.” These lyrics highlight Coco Gauff’s impressive tennis skills. When she first discovered the song herself last Saturday, Coco was on cloud nine.
When emotions swoop over Coco Gauff after featuring on Tyler, the Creator’s song
Expressing her feelings after receiving the shout-out from Tyler, Gauff wrote in her Instagram Story, “Me finishing practice to being mentioned on a Tyler song. This is absolutely insane.” Her fondness for music in general has been an open secret. No matter what she’s doing at any given moment, she’s always listening to a song or two.
“I just like to listen to music, while doing whatever I’m doing. Yeah, I mean, the bike is calming. It gets repetitive for me, so I do switch it up, between the treadmill and the bike but, as long as I have music, I think it’s the most relaxing,” she revealed in a USTA video. She even visited a concert by d4vd to celebrate her US Open victory last year. Simply put, it all speaks volumes of her love for music.
