It is not easy to guess this about Venus Williams, but a while back she was diagnosed with a very harsh disease that disrupts a person’s immune system. She was diagnosed with an autoimmune disease called Sjogren’s syndrome back in 2011 due to which she had to step away from the court for almost a year while she battled the disease.
The disease was so severe that it almost ended her tennis career. Despite the deadly disease she had, she continued to remain one of the most decorated tennis players of all time. In fact, when she came back to the court in 2012, she won one of her first ever singles tournaments.

When in 2011, she had to step away from the court due to the syndrome, no one knew when she would be back. However, after 1 year of rigorous treatment, she came back in 2012 and competed in the Luxemburg Open in 2012 and even won the tournament.

Just recently she posted a story on her official Instagram account commemorating her win and sharing an insight about it with her fans. She stated, “My first singles win after coming back from nearly a year layoff after being diagnosed with an autoimmune disease.”
Further, she also talked about how her trophy had gotten distorted and it came back all back in place today. Williams added, “The racquet actually broke off and it just got fixed.” Even though it is not easy for a player to be back after such a long break in the same form and confidence, Venus Williams did it and did it like no one else.
And now she is about to do it again. Venus Williams is soon making a comeback in 2024 at the Indian Wells tournament and Miami Open. However, this time around, tennis fans are not that happy to have her back. Let’s find out why.
Fans not happy about Venus Williams making a comeback to the 2024 tournament season
In a recent series of events, Venus Williams announced that she will be back during the Sunshine Swing time of this year’s tournament season which includes Miami Open and Indian Wells. However, tennis fans are not completely happy about this. The fans of the sport think that Venus Williams does not qualify for a wild card entry anymore. They also think that since her ranking is low, she should not be attending these tournaments.
I hope they make her go through qualifiers. She doesn’t deserve to get WCs. She couldn’t even beat anyone in the top 150 right now. She’s a guaranteed 1st round in any tourney.

She is 413 in the World. How will she get into these tournaments? Please don't tell me with another WC…

Maybe I piss a lot of people off. I’m a huge admirer of the Williams sisters. But really: WHAT’S THE POINT?
