Elena Rybakina is enjoying an incredible season this year. The finalist of the Miami Open also achieved her first victory at the Stuttgart Open a few days ago. And now she is onto her next tournament, the Madrid Open. However, after her last match in the tournament, Rybakina opened up about the downside of playing back-to-back matches in the season. Therefore, she requested one little change in the WTA tour schedule.
Elena Rybakina has already won two matches at the Madrid Open so far. And before stepping into her next game, she revealed how the grueling schedule sometimes takes a toll on the players. In her post-match interview, Rybakina stated, “Well, I would say that for us, it’s very difficult schedule. That is for sure.”
The Qatar Open finalist, who recently won over World No. 1, Iga Swiatek, further admitted the pressure of producing quality matches. “And of course, people want to see quality matches, and it’s not easy to perform when you are traveling so much and you have to think that it’s the most important.”

She also pointed out how this can affect players, especially when it comes to injuries on the court. And why not? Even she suffered from gastrointestinal issues that ultimately led her to withdraw from the Indian Wells this year. Not only she but even Paula Badosa faced similar challenges during one of her tournaments as well. Therefore, the 24-year-old player further requested the WTA authorities and added, “So I will say just make a little bit easier on us, just health-wise.”

“I’ll try to do my best and stay consistent,” Rybakina said about her upcoming matches
After her latest victory over the Greek player, Mayar Sherif, Rybakina’s confidence in her performance had boosted again. With a straight-set victory over her opponent, she emerged victorious with a score of 6-1, 6-4. And during an on-court interview, she revealed, “If I continue like this, it’ll be great. I’ll try to do my best and stay consistent, most importantly, healthy. So far, I’m playing really well. I just want to keep on going.”
Visibly happy with her performance, Rybakina also acknowledged how tough the match was, irrespective of the result. But she further admitted how happy she is with her performance on court. And why not? Because after her latest victory, it becomes her 28th tour-leading win of this season. And as she continues to show her prowess on court, her request to the WTA Tour management remains the same. And hopefully, with voices like hers, WTA will bring some changes to the schedule.
