Madison Keys’ 2024 jam-packed WTA Tour has come to an end. And now Keys has some special off-court plans. The 29-year-old recently expressed her contentment and gratefulness for the kind of year she has had. Additionally, she shared some great news. Keys is ready to tie the knot with her boyfriend and coach, Bjorn Fratangelo. And before you start guessing how it unfolded, the love between the two began brewing way before the coaching kicked off.
In a recent Instagram post, Madison Keys shared several adorable pictures from her games this year, captioning, “Thanks to my team and friends for making the year more fun. Time for a little offseason but then I’ll be back and can’t wait to do it all over again! Let’s get married (Bjorn Fratangelo).”

Keys got engaged to Bjorn in March 2023. Though they made their relationship official only six months before their engagement, they have been in a relationship for over eight years. The couple first met during a practice session in Boca Raton, Florida, in 2016. Keys and Bjorn didn’t take long to fall in love, and the following year, they moved to Orlando where they shared the same apartment complex. During COVID-19, the two were forced to stay indoors, and that’s when they realized they were made for each other.
Keys shared her experience of quarantining with Bjorn in a conversation with Tennis.com. The 29-year-old said, “Being in quarantine together has really shown us that we don’t have to be doing something in particular to enjoy being together. We laugh together a lot, and Bjorn is constantly keeping me on my toes.”
She further added, “We feel like a regular couple that lives a normal life, and we really don’t mind the normalcy that we have right now. Whether it’s the morning cup of coffee or even hitting balls together, these things could be taken for granted if it’s something you’ve done continuously for many, many years.”

The couple truly is made for each other with their love and tennis being the glue that holds them together. We know they have practiced together, but have they played together professionally?

Have an interesting take?
Who is Bjorn Fratangelo? And has he played tennis with Keys?
Bjorn is an inactive tennis professional turned coach. Named after tennis legend, Bjorn Borg, Fratangelo began playing tennis at the age of 3. In 2011, he beat Dominic Thiem to win the boys’ singles title at the 2011 French Open. Since then, he has played tennis sparsely and has made it into the top 100 once.

Bjorn and Key have been practicing together since they first met. In 2021, the 31-year-old convinced Keys to be his partner for the mixed doubles contest at the US Open. About the experience, Keys said, “I was always just saying I was going to be so nervous and I was going to have to try so hard, but he finally said, ‘We’ll just have some fun.’ I’m very happy that we did it.”
Bjorn began as Keys’ coach after her Rolland Garros second-round loss. Keys has had some good tournaments since her partner took the job. For example, this year she reached the semis in Madrid, beating Coco Gauff and Ons Jabeur. Now, 2025 may be the year to watch for, as Keys will be returning with renewed energy with her husband (a calculated assumption) by her side.
