Naomi Osaka, the Japanese tennis ace, is one of the most successful tennis players. She has won four Grand Slams up till now and at just the age of 24. Therefore, it won’t be wrong to say that she harbors a great deal of potential. However, that’s not the only reason behind her huge fan following. Osaka receives so much love and attention because of her Charismatic and outspoken personality.

Although Osaka likes keeping things to herself, she is fearless and straightforward. Further, the former World No.1, unlike others, never shies away from owning her country’s tradition. She proudly flaunts her heritage whenever given a chance. Recently she posed for a magazine and addressed how the Japanese culture is an integral part of her.

Naomi Osaka speaks about her culture

The 24-year-old apart from tennis is famous in the fashion industry as well. Therefore, she often collaborates with high-end brands and poses for magazine covers. This time, she chose Dazed, the bi-monthly British style magazine. In the light of which, she also addressed how having a rich cultural background has affected her. As she said“I feel like this is really my strength. Being unique and also having diverse life experiences which have made me more tolerant and curious.”

For the cover, she wore a piece designed by Tokyo-based designer Ryunosuke Okazaki. Further, Osaka’s attire took inspiration from her interest in geisha culture and paid homage to Japanese traditions. Hence, it consisted of rich color palettes to represent Japanese culture and exoskeleton structuring, which complements Osaka’s amorphous talent.

Later, a satisfied Osaka spoke about her outfit. And said, “When I put the clothes on, I saw references to Amaterasu-Omikami, the Japanese sun goddess. Another look felt like a reference to Tengu, a legendary creature in Japan.”

After the 24-year-old stormed at Miami Open, many, including herself, expected great runs from her end in the clay-court season. However, to her own shock, she has failed to even match her earlier records. Osaka‘s first clay-based tournament for the year 2022 was the Madrid Open. From where she walked out after incurring a straight-set defeat against the Spanish tennis professional Sara Tormo in the second round.

Thereafter, she abandoned her first match in the red dirt of the Italian Open because of an Achilles injury. And participate in the French Open riding high on expectations of changing her previous records and having a run beyond the third round. Though she failed to even secure a position in the second round.

The American Amanda Anisimova got the better of Osaka in straight sets of 7-5, 6-4. Thus, making her pack her bags in the first week only. However, with the grass-based Grand Slam ahead, fans are again getting optimistic.
