Martina Navratilova’s celebration of her anniversary with her wife Julia Lemigova is not over yet! It was only a few days ago when the tennis world saw the couple express their love for each other on their 16-year anniversary in a special social media post. However, there is more. Sharing their pictures from France, Navratilova also added a twist of “racquet” to their celebration!

Martina Navratilova, who recently entertained tennis fans with her commentary at the Roland Garros, was not alone in enjoying her trip to France. After all, in her personal life, she was also enjoying a new milestone as she completed 16 years with Lemigova. Therefore, a celebration is a must. Initially, Lemigova took to her Instagram story and shared their picture together (along with Lemigova’s daughter) with a heartfelt note: “Celebrated 16 years of adventures together. Love doing life with you, @martinanavratilova.” However, just a few hours ago, Navratilova, who understandably is not over their special trip shared a few pictures of their trip to Paris. 

Captioned as “sometimes life is a racquet,❤️❤️ @julialemigova,” the series of photos captured their time at the Roland Garros! The first picture shows Lemigova posing on the staircase with racquets hanging from the ceiling above, further emphasizing how their celebration was not complete without racquets and tennis balls. The next two pictures showcased the duo posing together, while the third one also had Lemigova’s daughter in it. However, the former Czech American tennis star’s partner also did not let go of the opportunity to share her love too. The Russian former model, Lemigova, commented red “🤍” on the post.

Martina Navratilova and her long-time girlfriend Julia Lemigova’s love story began in the early 2000s, when they first met each other. However, it was not until 2008 that they started dating. Finally, they took their vows in December 2014 and started a new journey with love. Lemigova revealed in the first episode of season 4 of The Real Housewives of Miami how their love story began.

“I looked at her and gave her a look across the bar. [the said], ‘You have to come and talk to me.’ It was a second and I turned away. She received the message.” But the next time they met (in the French Open), Julia went up to her and asked her out. The rest is history, as they immediately felt a connection and later started dating each other.

Although, now fans frequently get a glimpse of their love for each other through various social media posts, and otherwise, it was not the case a few years ago.

Last year, the 51-year-old former model made a confession about how she was hesitant to showcase her love for the WTA tennis star to the world. During an interview, she spoke about the time when they came to Paris as a couple and said, “I was terrible, you know, in Paris, I just could not. I was so self-conscious.”

Further adding to it, Martina Navratilova’s wife said, “I was walking on the streets of Paris or sitting in a restaurant and like admiring straight couples kissing each other, holding hands, and something that it’s like so normal to me now. At that time, I couldn’t do it. I couldn’t even imagine making myself doing and Martina would hold my hands. And I would take my hand away. I know people can watch us, they can see us.” However, the scenario has changed now. And the tennis fans love it!

On one hand, Lemigova frequently shares her love for her through special gestures, like performing a musical piece for her. On the other hand, Martina Navratilova likes to share snippets of these lovely moments with her on social media. As both continue their journey, fans hope to see more of these special glimpses of the duo!
