Former world No. 1 tennis player Angelique Kerber was recently seen announcing her pregnancy. To date, Kerber has won three Grand Slam tournaments, including the US Open in 2016. However, she recently missed US Open 2022.

After her 2016 Flushing Meadows victory, the 34-year-old German ascended to the top of the WTA rankings. And in 2018, she won Wimbledon and brought her total Grand Slam tally to three. Earlier today, the three-time Grand Slam winner talked about her desire to return to competitive tennis.

Angelique Kerber on her desire to make a strong come back 

The German star Angelique Kerber was having a chat with Porsche Newsroom. This interview took place while she was in Leipzig, attending the Opera Ball.

During the interview, she was asked about the future of her career and whether having a baby is not the end of her playing career. For which she answered by saying, ‟Definitely not. I’ll try to get fit again and return to the tour, but without rushing things. And then I’ll be wanting to go all out. If I do something, then I do it properly.”

She further went on to say, “One aim is the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris. I’d really like to play there. I took part in the Games in London and Rio de Janeiro and it’s something special playing for one’s country at such a momentous event.

How many titles has Kerber managed to amass this year?

To date, Kerber has won just one title this year. She won Strasbourg, a tournament just before the French Open, by beating Kaja Juvan in the final.

Her victory over Kaja Juvan in the final of the Strasbourg tournament was her first on clay in over six years. After battling hard for more than 3 hours and 16 minutes, the German finally prevailed over Juvan.

Angelique Kerber played her last competitive tennis match this year at Wimbledon, where she got eliminated in the third round. Right now, she holds the 71st spot on the WTA global rankings.
