The American sensation took to her official Instagram handle and shared a picture via her Instagram story. In the picture, Gauff revealed the gifts that she got, which included soft toys and sweet messages. Sharing the picture, Gauff wrote, “China has some of the sweetest supporters. These are all of the gifts I received from people in Beijing. So cute and if you know me you know I love stuffed animals.”

During the course of the tournament, there were several memorable moments that Gauff was involved in. Fans were quite vocal in support of her throughout the tournament and she even received a bizarre request from one of the fans, who asked Gauff to sign her laptop. Gauff accepted the gesture gleefully and gave her autograph on the laptop.

Victories have been hard to come by for Gauff this year. With rising expectations, she has found it difficult to live up to the hype all the time amid a hectic schedule. Nonetheless, she produced her best in Beijing and was able to triumph. However, she has remained wary and kept her feet grounded.

As she prepares for Wuhan Open, Gauff told the reporters, “People don’t realise people have great moments in sports and bad moments. It doesn’t mean anything. I took inspiration from A’ja Wilson. She’s kind of like, ‘It’s hard to stay winning all the time. You need to go through losses to realise what you need to do to evolve’. Tennis fans need to be more accepting of that.”

The 20-year-old also admitted that she is still young and has a long way to go in her career. “A lot of times people forget that I’m still in the developmental phase of my career and nothing is going to be great. Most of the people doing well are 25 and older in the Top 10, maybe with the exception of Iga. We have a long way to go and I still have a lot that I need to work on and I’m proud of myself thus far,” Gauff added.
