Serena Williams, the name is enough to bring thousands into a conversation. A conversation about how she has ruled the courts and has inspired generations. The 23-time Grand Slam champion receives adoration not only from fans but also from entities who themselves are idols for many.

Further, now that Williams has decided to step into the second set of her life, the feeling has grown even stronger. People are trying to forge a bond that can replace the pain of not seeing her around on tours. And amongst them are Giannis Antetokounmpo and Sydney Leroux.

Antetokounmpo and Leroux’s way of saying thank you

The basketball giant recently posed for media dressed in an outfit that paid tribute to the legendary Williams. Antetokounmpo shined in Nike’s black Serena Williams crew hoodie and posted the picture to show respect to the former World No.1.

The Greek Nigerian professional plays as Milwaukee Bucks’ power forward and is famous for his size, speed, strength, and ball handling skills. In fact, because of these factors and the dominant style of playing, he was bestowed with the nickname Greek Freak. Further, Antetokounmpo has known Williams and Ohanian for a long time and they are a regular to his dinner invites.

Speaking of Leroux, she paid tribute to the seven times Wimbledon champion by dressing her two beautiful kids in Williams-inspired t-shirts. The 32-year-old shared a picture of her children wearing “By changing nothing she changed everything” shirts and smiling brightly.

To which overwhelmed, Ohanian responded by writing, “I love our team.” Sydney Leroux is one of the most prominent forwards in women’s soccer. She recently onboarded Angel City FC, a club majorly powered by Williams and Ohanian’s investment.

Serena Williams’ last tournament

The six times US Open champion decided to bid farewell to the sport by performing her last dance at the home-based Grand Slam. Although she couldn’t get past her initial round opponents in the warm-up events of the American swing, Williams, powered by the push from her fans, safeguarded her record in the majors.

The 40-year-old made up to the round of 32 and following a tough fight against the Australian professional Ajla Tomljanović, she hung her racket. Williams dragged the match till the third set by reviving herself in the second. However, after failing to secure the last, she, with teary eyes, said goodbye.
