In April this year, the tennis world was hoping to see Serena Williams back on the court. However, instead of her comeback news, what flashed on the news screens was Patrick Mouratoglou’s split with Williams. In the past decade, Serena Williams retouched the peak of her career. Working together since 2012, Patrick helped Serena win 10 majors, an Olympic gold, and a run back to the top of the rankings. Even though the two don’t work together anymore, their legacy has made them the most celebrated coach-player pair of tennis. Recently, Serena opened up on how love has made her a better player. Additionally, Patrick also opened up about the differentiating factor between Serena and other players.
Serena Williams credit love as the reason of her growth
Despite being happy, Serena is one of the most serious players when on court. The former World No. 1 shows utmost confidence when cruising over her opponents. Confidence, that the 22-time Grand Slam champion largely gathers from the love showered at her from her family, friends, and fans.

Williams feels no different. Opening up on what motivates her to be a better player, Williams admitted, “In your job, whether it’s playing tennis or whether it’s doing something else, love is one of the single greatest things in the world that you can have. It can make you better at whatever you do.”

Patrick Mouratoglou calls being happy the reason for the success of Serena
Working together for a decade, Patrick is rightly aware of all the aspects of Serena’s personality. On the court, as well as off the court. Adding on to Serena, Patrick also gave her views on what makes Serena different from other players on the tour. During the candid conversation, Patrick admitted that being happy in all situations is the factor that makes Serena different from other players.

“When you don’t feel ready enough for a champion, you don’t feel good. You’re not happy with yourself. I feel like she’s more relaxed because she is happier. Happy outside the court and happier on the court,” the French coach said.

The separation of the two has come as a major shock for the tennis world. However, following the split, the two look happy going their ways. While Patrick is now working with former World No. 1 Simona Halep, Serena has taken in sister Venus William’s coach Eric Hechtman as her coach.
