The former Miss USSR currently lives a happily married life with her partner, Martina Navratilova. The couple is raising two daughters together. While one might think differently, Lemigova says that it’s like any other marriage, where love is the primary thing. Here’s what she said in an interview with THE List.

“Want to show that our family with Martina is like any other family — doesn’t matter whether gay or straight. Love is love. Love has no gender. That’s why I have absolutely no taboo to show how we live.”

She further added, “It’s the opposite — please see! For those who are still somewhere in the world [that is] not accepting, hopefully, they will change their minds eventually.”

Julia and Martina tied the knot back in 2014. While the couple took their time to understand each other before marriage, there were a few things they disliked about each other. Here’s when the wedding vows came into place.

At the time of their wedding, Lemigova wanted Navratilova to promise her she will stay away from social media. The 18-time Grand Slam champion is a social media addict and spends a good part of her time scrolling her phone. While the former world number one agreed to the demand, she admitted that she never really followed it.

Navratilova is among the most active tennis personalities today. As far as social media is concerned, the 65-year-old is quite active on Twitter and keeps looking for the latest developments related to tennis and other things in society. The former tennis star is also pretty vocal as she keeps engaging in Twitter feuds with fans.
