Recently, Serena Williams and her husband, Alexis Ohanian celebrated their seventh anniversary at the Contemporary Arts Center in New Orleans. Fans saw both of them sharing a heartfelt note on each other and taking a look back at their incredible journey. The couple, now parents to two daughters, frequently express their love and admiration for each other publicly. In 2018, Williams said, “I’m an athlete. He’s a business guy. I’m Black. He’s white. We are totally opposite. I think we just complement each other. I think we understand hard work in different ways.” Ohanian is often seen showcasing his skills in various fields, but is there any specific skill he’s better at than Williams?

Well, throughout these last few years after her retirement, Serena Williams has been capturing a lot of attention through her passion for cooking and baking. Clearly, her skills aren’t limited to tennis either! On the other hand, her husband has now established a tradition of making pancakes for Olympia. He often shares the images and videos of his unique creations on his social media accounts. Not only that, Alexis Ohanian also loves playing video games and golf with their elder daughter, Olympia. What according to him, does he do better than his wife, Serena Williams?

In reply to this question on Spolitics Podcast, Ohanian said, “This is easy. There are a lot of things I’m better at than her. I’m a better artist. We do little drawing classes. Like I’ll fire up a YouTube channel where it’s like a step-by-step drawing class. I’m like, ‘Olympia what do you want to draw today?’ And she’ll be like, ‘a unicorn!’ I’ll be like, ‘cool.’ Serena knows, a much better artist.” Is it the only skill he thinks he’s better at? Not really though! He further added, “She would contest it, but I think I’m a better cook. She’s a better baker, but I’m a better cook and that’s simple because I really got into smoking and grilling.”

He explained how he’s a bit too obsessed over stuff and shared a story from their visit to Austin. Serena Williams’ husband revealed that when he learned that their elder daughter loves brisket, he was like “Great, my baby is going to have brisket every weekend.” That’s how passionate he has become in cooking! Apart from that, previously Serena Williams had stated, “I always liked gaming when I was younger because it was really popular.” However, according to Alexis Ohanian’s recent claims, he’s better at video games than her wife.

“Better than her at video games. Not that’s much of a skill but I’ll take it. Game of H.O.R.S.E, yeah her jump shot is terrible,” said Ohanian in that funny interaction with Jemele J Hill. However, do you know a few years ago, Alexis Ohanian revealed, “I got some of the highest praise of my life — or at least I thought it was — because Serena told me, ‘You work even harder than me.’ And I was like, ‘All right, yeah, I’m doing it right. This is the nicest thing you could have ever said to me.“

Then recently, he also revealed how Serena Williams once ‘seduced’ him with her cooking skills. During the fun interview with Ling, the couple reminisced about their first and during the same event, Ohanian also revealed the name of his favorite dish cooked by her wife. “My favorite meal that you cook is the one that you seduced me with. It was tacos. That was the first meal you ever made for me. You brought out some tremendous tacos,” he said. After hearing this Williams asked him, “Did you think I could cook?“

He replied, “I don’t want to say that I feel misled but I really was like, ‘What are these flavors?’ And you were like, ‘It’s called cumin.’ My palette has been expanded.” However, after hearing about all these things, now fans must be wondering, has Serena Williams ever tried to give tennis lessons to Alexis Ohanian, though?

The moment when Alexis Ohanian turned down Serena Williams’ rare offer of tennis lessons

Earlier during an interview, Alexis Ohanian revealed that despite developing an interest in the sport, he has never picked up a tennis racquet himself. Ohanian was more into the NFL than any other sport before he started dating Serena Williams. He revealed that his father used the call tennis a “bullsh-t country club sport.” However, now with the 23-times Grand Slam champion by his side, things were bound to change.

Explaining that transition he added,  “Obviously got smart real quick once I started dating my now wife and I have tremendous respect for tennis. Tennis is a great, great sport. I never picked up a racket but I’m not stupid.” However, when it came to learning more about the sport from one of the finest in the game, he once revealed how he had once offended Serena Williams.

“She invited me for a lesson, ‘You know what, I never do this, but I’d be happy to give you a few pointers.’ I said, ‘Absolutely not,’ and she was actually kind of offended because she’s like, ‘Do you know who I am?’ I told you, I don’t just do this for people,‘” he revealed. What was the reason behind this, though? Ohanian added, “I thought, if this doesn’t work out, for the rest of my life, I can be the only person on the planet who said they’d turned down Serena Williams for a tennis lesson. That’s the move. That’s the ultimate flex.” So, it means he had literally already made up some long-term goals with her in his mind at that time! Thankfully for him, it clicked.
