At 43, Venus has often emphasized that she doesn’t want to look back on her life and feel like she hasn’t evolved in her style. And her latest look? It’s a stunner that fans can’t stop talking about. Especially because it closely resembles the iconic style of her sister, Serena Williams.

The 7-time Grand Slam champion donned a blonde look with a honey-shade color as part of her partnership with Schwarzkopf Professional. The firm, dedicated to hairdressers, is celebrating the relaunch of IGORA VIBRANCE Demi-Permanent Color, for which it also decided to feature the tennis great. With the blonde look, she looks very much like her younger sister Serena, a fact that the elder sister herself admitted.

The tennis pro engaged in an interview with People and deliberated about her new look, the reactions she had, and the reason behind it. Speaking to People about the new color, Williams said, “When I saw that color, I was like, ‘Gosh, it looks just like Serena’.” Continuing further, Williams revealed that she shared the picture with her sister Serena.

“It was really fun to actually get out of my comfort zone and do something that I never thought I could do.” She further claimed that she had never used such a color and that it made her look exactly like her sister. “I think a lot of people go for color, but then it doesn’t work for them.” She revealed that both sisters’ inspiration is from American singer-songwriter and actress, Miley Cyrus. Expressing their desire to have a mullet like Cyrus, she said, “Serena and I are always threatening to do [one]. ”However, the choice of color was not a mere coincidence. 

Talking about Williams’ new look, her hairstylist Brendnetta Ashley expressed that she was inspired to create something new and fresh for the tennis star. “Being that honey blondes and warmer blondes are such a trend now, I felt like that was going to be the perfect color for her.” Ashley made several considerations like the tone of Williams’ skin and her eye color to finalize the new hue for the star.

Interestingly, this is not the first time when Venus has stood in unison with Serena over style. Last year, Venus surprised her fans with a pink hairdo that resembled Serena’s hairstyle. Venus had then claimed that she often looks to her younger sister both on and off the court for inspiration. While the tennis star has continued to woo fans, her daily skincare routine is something worth noting.

Venus revealed that her top priority is to “moisturize, moisturize, moisturize” — even when she’s home in the sweltering Florida heat. “That’s my whole thing, layering the moisture on my skin,” she said. “And, staying out of the sun. I’ve been in the sun 40 years, so now these last couple of months I’ve stayed out of the sun, my skin is just so bright.”

As for her professional endeavors, it is still unclear when or if she will return to the tennis courts for major events again. But, her amazing looks have definitely continued to amaze and inspire her fans outside the courts.
