How often have we seen Serena Williams raise her game when it has mattered the most? Take the example of the US Open this year. In what is the last tournament of her professional tennis career, the American legend has caught everyone’s eye with some audacious tennis strokes.

Recently, she defeated the second seed, Anett Kontaveit of Estonia, in the second round of the 2022 US Open. However, her campaign ended in the third round with a defeat against Ajla Tomljanovic. Nonetheless, the 23-time Grand Slam champion gave her all in the last match of her career. Social media users went crazy after watching an impressive performance from the American legend.

Twitter erupts as Serena Williams hits some unbelievable winners

Towards the end of the second set, both players were engrossed in some long rallies and had their opponent running from one side of the court to the other. However, on multiple occasions, Serena came out on the top in those rallies. She eventually won the second-set tiebreaker to level the match.

Social media users went haywire after watching Serena in god-like mode. One of the users said, “Serena is a nationalal (national) treasure. go Serena!”

Further, another Twitter user mentioned, “Finishing that shot like a boss!”

Another fan was in awe of Serena’s performance, saying, “She is [fire] tonight. Love to see it.”

Meanwhile, one of the Twitter users said, “She is fierce!!!”

In the end, Serena lost out steam as her campaign at the US Open ended, losing against Ajla Tomljanovic 7-5, 6-7(4), 6-1. The marathon battle lasted for over three hours at the Arthur Ashe stadium.

Who will Ajla Tomljanovic face next at the US Open?

After a hard-fought win over Serena, the Australian star will take on Ludmilla Samsonova in the fourth round of the tournament. The latter had earlier defeated Aleksandra Krunic of Serbia in the third round.
