Tennis is a game of margins. Momentum keeps shifting between two players and the one who manages to hold on to it emerges the winner. Today, in the women’s singles final between Emma Raducanu and Leylah Fernandez at the US Open, the momentum was with Raducanu for most part of the match as she completed a dream three-week run in New York by clinching her first major title.

Right from the start, Raducanu had an attacking mindset and kept finding corners to hit winners from both the wings. Leylah Fernandez not being able to bring out her A-game when it needed the most also aided the Brit as she captured an engaging first set, 6-4.
Having lost a break point in the second set, Fernandez was not able to bounce back and gave Raducanu an opportunity to serve for the title. Serving for the match at 5-3 in the second set, the British got herself injured while attempting to keep the ball in play.
