When there’s no one to follow, create your own path! Alexis Ohanian has proved the truth of the above statement time and again. Serena Williams’ husband is not only a visionary entrepreneur but also a devoted father of two. Finding new ways and redefining what it means to be a father of two daughters, Alexis Ohanian does not follow a traditional pathway to be the best dad. Instead, he learns from his mistakes and tries hard every day to be better. Echoing the mindset of a whole new generation of parents, Alexis Ohanian revealed his mindset when it comes to taking on his role as a father.
On July 2nd, Serena Williams’ husband, Alexis Ohanian, did a special interview with Todd Carmichael on the podcast, “Business Dad.” While talking about their fatherhood journey, Ohanian shared his insightful reflection on the challenges of raising two daughters. The father of Olympia and Adira spoke, “One of the things I am, like proactively trying to get ahead of is how to make sure I am – so as a guy, I didn’t have a blueprint for raising a daughter, like there was this new concept.”
Further demonstrating the difference in the racial backgrounds, Ohanian added, “And then you add another layer to that around race. And I’m also trying, like, I want to be able – even though I know there are going to be ways I won’t be able to fully empathize – I still want to find ways to show up in the best way that I can.”

When it comes to supporting his daughters, Serena Williams’ husband, Ohanian, is all in action, as he considers being a dad is one of the “strongest parts” of his identity. He not only wants to guide his daughters to pursue their dreams, but Ohanian wants Olympia and Adira to be inspired by his work as well. However, Ohanian also admitted how, after becoming a father, he experienced a “shift in things.” And that shift in perspective has helped him make “every decision.”
Addressing this “ebb and flow” of his ever-evolving duties as a father, Ohanian once expressed how he is balancing the everyday duties roles and at the same time learning various things himself. The father of six-year-old Olympia stated, “The relationship has layers to it, which has been really fun. But for a six-year-old, I’m just starting to unpeel the human and really learn all the different feelings and desires and hopes and fears. And it’s awesome.”

His feelings are often portrayed through many of his X posts. A few years ago, Ohanian jokingly stated his difficulty in styling her daughter’s (Olympia’s) hair. “Just applied to join 4 private Natural Hair facebook groups. I hope they don’t auto-reject my application when they see my profile photo. I told them it was to keep getting better at doing my daughter’s hair.”
And this garnered a lot of attention from fans who appreciated his efforts. One of them wrote, “You are an amazing dad, and there is so much that is said in this simple gesture.” Serena Williams and Alexis Ohanian may not be following a particular “blueprint” in raising their daughters, but their efforts are surely winning the hearts of millions!
