Winning a marathon match is an achievement in itself for a rising player. However, what must not be forgotten is the importance of recovery. Following an intensive match, the next most important step for any athlete is to give his/her body the time to recover. Same was the case with Bencic.
Opening up on the feeling of winning over Badosa in Charleston, Bencic asserted that she will now try to recover. “I’m just going to try to recover. But I’m happy with the way I played, with the way I fought, and I’m happy to get another match here,” she said.

Apart from the spectators present in the stadium, the biggest support for any player playing on-court is their team sitting in the player’s box. Working closely with the player and being part of his/her growth, the team, in no time, becomes a closely knit group of people. Belinda’s team was no different.
Recalling her team’s reaction after her loss to Osaka, Belinda expressed, “My team and other people, they were telling me, ‘No, this is just the start. You will play more semifinals and more tournaments.’ So, I feel like this completely kicked off my career.”
Winning the quarterfinal clash, Belinda Bencic will now play against Ekaterina Alexandrova for a spot in the final 2.
