Alexis Ohanian proudly boasts of unregistered immigrant parents on his Instagram profile. He wears their struggles and legacy like a badge of honor. The husband of Serena Williams had to see his fair share of ups and downs during his life. Born in a working-class family, Ohanian climbed his way up to the top because of his resilience. And that came from his parents. Ohanian once opened up about learning from his mother who had a terminal disease.

The Reddit co-founder is one of the most renowned entrepreneurs of all time. However, his journey to make that change was no less than an ordeal.

Alexis Ohanian on deriving lessons from his resilient mother

The Reddit co-founder has never shied away from boasting about the values he carried from his immigrant parents. Despite things being extremely hard when he was young, he treasured their love and dedication to the family. So, when his mother got diagnosed with terminal brain cancer, Ohanian knew he had to be around her. In an old interview, he stated, “During the next few years I spent a lot of time traveling between Boston (where Reddit was based) and Maryland (where my parents lived).” However, instead of feeling dejected, he picked up on her tenacity.

He said, “Every time I left her side, I was energized by her courage and unflagging spirit.” The proud son knew what he had to do. Ohanian stated, “She gave me all the inspiration I needed to wake up every morning and kick some a** because that’s what you have to believe as a startup founder.”

Seeing the ends meet with his father’s struggles and her mother’s dedication, Ohanian was happy. He picked up on the dedication they both had for each other and their family. These are the same values that he has implemented in his family as well.

How have Serena Williams and Alexis Ohanian spent their holiday season? 

The three have been able to spend quite a lot of time together since Williams retired. So, that made it obvious for the three to spend their holiday season together. The three went on to the farm and uploaded a wholesome picture of the three on a cart. And on Christmas, Alexis Ohanian and Olympia stuck to their Sunday tradition and made pancakes.
