Williams recently shared a picture of Kelly Rowland on her official Instagram story. This picture was shared by Netflix’s official Instagram profile. It was for a promotional for Rowland’s new Netflix movie Mea Culpa.  Sharing the image on her story, Williams wrote- “ok sis @kellyrowland.” This world’s former number-one was truly giving sisterhood vibes. Fans were delighted to see Serena Williams supporting Kelly Rowland on her new project.

Rowland witnessed Williams’s controversial match in the 2018 US Open from Arthur Ashe Stadium. The Olympic gold medalist tennis legend not only lost to Osaka that time but received three violations from the game’s umpire. At that moment, Rowland raised her support for Williams and said- “What I love about Serena is that she stopped for a second and gave Naomi her credit where it was due. When Serena speaks, it’s with great passion and respect.

She further added: “I’ve never seen a game like that before where a whole game was taken away, I think that in some sort of way, she did intimidate [the umpire], and I feel like in order to take his power back that he felt like he lost to a woman, he had to put her in her place.”

Rowland told in an interview with PEOPLE magazine: “I watched her interview afterwards, Just knowing that she’s put in this position to fight for women’s rights and equality and she’s not afraid of that position. I do believe to whom much is given, much is required, And she’s not afraid of that. She’s ready to fight the fight and I’ll be there to fight with her.” Rowland here referred to Serena Williams’s return accusation to the umpire about the violations being sexist.
