The Reddit co-founder has ardently started the arduous campaign to make paternity leave a reality. Though the issue has been raised by Ohanian for over five years, the developments are quite slow. However, Ohanian is not giving up. He is fixed on his vision that it is imperative for both parents to be present during the initial phase of a child’s development. As other men have come up with the same issue, the husband of Serena Williams continues to dream of making his vision a reality.

However, it was not always like that. The Reddit co-founder did not pay much heed to the importance of paternity leave before having Olympia. But the tables have turned and Ohanian is ready for a long fight.

After Serena Williams had a near-death experience after giving birth to Olympia, Ohanian was the one who handled the responsibilities at home. Spending time with his daughter led him to realize how important it was for fathers to be present. It was at that time he started his campaign for getting paternity leave for working fathers.

With time, other fathers have also come up with the same issues. Recently, a user on Twitter voiced his support for Ohanian’s vision. He stated, “Keep the momentum going! We will get every American access to paid leave and give every man the confidence to use it.”

America does not have a set policy for paternity leave yet. And even if some father takes leave, the careers of the concerned individuals can take a toll.

It was the vice president of people and culture, Katelin Holloway, brought it up in a meeting and went along with it. But after taking care of both Olympia and Serena Williams, he realized the importance of paternity leave.
