It is often said that family is a beacon of strength and support, especially during difficult times. For Venus Williams, one of the greatest tennis players of all time, the loss of her first comeback match at the Libema Open was undoubtedly a tough pill to swallow. However, the heartfelt message shared by her late sister’s son, Jair Bobbitt, on social media, shows that love, support, and strength can be found even in the most trying times.

Yetunde Price, Venus, and Serena Williams‘ half-sister tragically lost her life in 2003 during a drive-by shooting in Compton, California. Her son, Jair Bobbitt, has since grown up surrounded by the love and support of his extended family, including his world-famous tennis-playing aunts. As Venus made her return to the tennis court after a hiatus, Jair’s message to her was a reminder of the unbreakable bond that exists between them.
