All is not well for Jessica Pegula. She might snatch all the spotlight after her Canadian Open stunt but her luck still finds a dark spot. This American WTA star is all set to play her Round of 32 match in the Cincinnati Open. Before she could unleash her magic on the hard surface the organizers changed the match’s venue. Pegula prepared to play at the Center Court today, might face an unexpected setback, and the reason is quite unfortunate.
Pegula is all set to play against Karolina Muchova in the R32. Before she could play her match today, she faced a disadvantage as her match shifted from the Center Court to Court 7. Fans mostly attend matches played in the Center Court. Since Pegula is an American favorite, many people probably had plans to see her match against Muchova today.
Now that the organizers shifted her schedule to Court 7, there are chances for a smaller audience in the gallery. Court 7’s minimal seating capacity allows fewer spectators than the Center Court. So, it is a setback for the 2024 Canadian Open winner.

Andy Roddick doesn’t want to see Pegula “go and lose in the second round”
Jessica Pegula has made a dedicated fan base after her epic victory in the 2024 Canadian Open. While Roddick has a lot of faith in the American star, he pointed out the difficulties in winning tournaments back-to-back. “Well she got a better opportunity than anyone else. I don’t know, it’s so hard. It is a little bit easier now than it used to be just because we used to not have byes.”
“If she could win a couple of matches and since she is in Cincy, that’s great preparation for New York. I don’t want to see her go and lose in the second round, but if she can put together two, three, four wins, that’s massive. Then you’re fighting your body and mental fatigue and all that,” Roddick said.

Despite mentioning the challenges, Roddick pointed out that Pegula will still get a week before the US Open. If she persists in her spirit, she might do wonders by bagging the titles of both Cincinnati and the US Open. “But there’s enough recovery time between where you can stretch your body a little bit. You get a full week off before New York,” said Roddick, with belief that the “slippery” courts will suit her well.
Pegula might play her second-round match in Cincinnati on a smaller court but that won’t take away her incredible aura on the surface. Pegula’s incredible strokes have shown that she is ready to get down and get dirty. So, are you ready to see how far she goes?
