The 18-time Grand Slam winner Martina Navratilova is a massive pop culture fan. She once praised Lady Gaga’s Superbowl performance, along with the likes of Shakira and Jennifer Lopez.

During the 2020 Superbowl halftime show, Shakira and Jennifer Lopez shared the stage and performed tremendously. However, they received criticism from a particular set of fans, which Navratilova did not like, as she slammed them for their critical views.

The former Czech-American tennis player took to Twitter and wrote, “Just watched the Super Bowl today and am still trying to figure out what the right wingers are complain about with JLo and Shakira. What were the hypocrite Puritans talking about?!?“

Notably, both Shakira and Jennifer Lopez represented their roots during the half-time show at Superbowl 2020, as Jennifer has Puerto Rican roots and Shakira had Lebanese roots. Some of the fans criticized them for representing that.
As per Navratilova‘s tweet, she called those fans hypocrites while simultaneously praising the pop stars for putting on an amazing show. Notably, Navratilova also praised Lady Gaga’s performance during the 2017 Superbowl half-time show.
Navratilova’s tennis knowledge is one of the best
Since retiring from professional tennis in 2006, Navratilova started covering many tennis matches on the tour, both ATP and WTA. Many fans praised her expert opinion while doing commentary and even praised her post-match analysis as well. Safe to say, Navratilova has tremendous knowledge in the sport, considering her 3 decades worth of experience as a top-ranked player.

Notably, she started playing at an early age; she was eight years old when she played her first tournament. After turning professional in 1975, Navratilova had an immediate impact on the tour, winning multiple singles and doubles tournaments.
During her career, she had an epic rivalry with another legendary player, Chris Evert. Together, they played 80 matches on the tour for almost 15 years. Despite their intense rivalry, Navratilova ended up winning their head-to-head battle by 43-37. Although Evert retired much earlier, Navratilova played till 50, focusing on doubles and mixed doubles.

Currently, both of them are working as commentators, as we recently saw Navratilova at the Cincinnati Masters. Soon, we will see them at the US Open as well.
