Serena Williams never stops inspiring! Whether smashing records on the court once upon a time or making an impact off it, the tennis legend has a way of touching fans’ hearts. And now, she’s at it again, showing her compassionate side in a truly heartfelt way. This time, Williams has turned her attention to the victims of the devastating wildfires in Los Angeles. In a poignant message shared with her millions of followers, she poured out her heart, expressing her sorrow for those affected and her unwavering support for the community.

LA County witnessed unprecedented situations after a series of ferocious wildfires broke out on January 7, owing to powerful winds and dry conditions. It claimed at least 27 lives and more than 10,000 structures were turned into rubble. Furthermore, over 200,000 people were placed under evacuation orders with insured losses expected to cross the $20 billion mark. In such a dire situation, Williams has stepped up to share her thoughts and prayers.

Taking to her Instagram handle, the tennis great – who is a practicing Jehovah’s Witness – shared a carousel of pictures, highlighting the devastation in Los Angeles. Captioning it, she wrote, “Being from LA and seeing the effects from the fire first hand has been heart breaking. I am continuing prayers for all involved in the fires. It does not stop there. There is a lot of rebuilding and emotional rebuilding to do. Sending love ♥️.” Notably, this is not the first time that Williams has opened up for the victims of the LA wildfires.

The 43-year-old took to her X on January 11 to express her sorrow. “💔Just praying praying incessantly, for my family and friends… And just everyone involved,” wrote Williams, who follows Jehovah’s Witness. Besides Williams, her husband Alexis Ohanian has also been at the forefront when it comes to sending aid and praying for the victims of the catastrophe.

The Reddit co-founder took to his X account earlier and asked his followers to assist him in identifying an authentic and efficient organization so that he could send support and relief to the victims. “Devastating. Who are the best orgs with the least overhead aka most efficiency we should be donating to help?” But it is not just Serena Williams and her husband who are stepping up to offer prayers and aid to the victims. Many in the tennis community have joined the suit. One more such name is that of American star Coco Gauff.

Besides Serena Williams, Coco Gauff steps up to help victims of LA Wildfires

The tennis community stood united to offer prayers for the communities impacted by the devastating wildfires. Coco Gauff too joined the fray to pledge her support. In a video shared by the Tennis Channel earlier, the 20-year-old made a heartfelt statement, offering her support in every way possible.

Speaking in the video, Gauff said, “First I would like to just send my thoughts and prayers to all those affected by this fire and send my biggest thank you to the firefighters and first responders who are out there and fighting these fires. Especially the incarcerated firefighters who aren’t getting paid as much.” She also promised to extend financial assistance and stand by the victims in these tough times.

“We appreciate you and we love you, and yeah, Stay strong Southern California. Just know I’ll be there to support and donate and help rebuild,” Gauff added. Now, with Serena Williams yet again reflecting on the devastation caused, surely more people will be inspired to step up and offer their support. In this tragedy, one thing is for sure: entities like Coco Gauff and Serena Williams have continued to show us what it means to lead with strength and compassion.
