Jasmine Paolini’s prowess on-court is not only limited to the singles matches at Roland Garros but also in the doubles category. After all, the No. 1 Italian female tennis pro has qualified for the semifinals in both of them! Although in singles she is a lone warrior, in doubles she enjoys the support of her compatriot, Sara Errani. But does she receive the same guidance from Errani in her singles matches too? According to the 28-year-old player, the answer is yes!
Jasmine Paolini and her doubles partner Sara Errani had a straight-set win (6-3, 6-3) against Emma Navarro and Diana Shnaider yesterday in the quarterfinals. What added more to this day was when world no. 15 went on to achieve another quarterfinal victory on the same day in the singles category. That too, against world no. 4, Elena Rybakina. Naturally, her happiness was palpable during the post-match press conference!
However, Jasmine Paolini, who is due to play Mirra Andreeva in her semifinal match, didn’t forget to mention the support of her pal, Errani, who was there in the box while Paolini played her match. When a journalist asked her, “Is she there purely as a support team for your matches or is she helping you out technically at all? Like, what’s the relationship there?” Paolini quickly responded, “I think she’s helping me so much to play.”

Continuing her statement, the Dubai Tennis Championships winner said, “With her, I can talk about tennis, I can ask her strategies but also advice. How to step on-court, what can I play today to play better. It’s somebody that I think can help me so much. She already did a Grand Slam final. So she already has been in this position. So I think it’s just someone that can help me in many aspects.”
The 37-year-old former Italian No. 1 player in doubles, Errani, began her partnership with Jasmine Paolini about two seasons ago. But even within this short period, they have together achieved many titles to their name. In 2024 alone, the duo has won two titles in the doubles category, one at the Linz Open and the other in Rome.

A French Open singles finalist, Errani is not only a professional partner but also addressed Paolini as her “friend” after winning the Italian Open doubles title. Therefore, when it comes to guiding her doubles partner on-court, Errani, who has won the highest number of WTA titles (9 singles, 30 doubles) as an Italian player, is all ready. However, even with the support, the triumphs on-court are not as easy as they seem. Errani herself admitted this after winning in Rome.
Jasmine Paolini’s doubles partner reveals how the “tour is not easy”
Jasmine Paolini and Sara Errani are enjoying a great season this year together on-court. After reaching 3 semifinal matches this year, the duo is onto their fourth one in France. However, their confidence has undergone a major boost in Rome. This is because, after 12 years of winning her first doubles title in Rome, she secured another one this year with Jasmine Paolini.

After the match, Sara Errani expressed, “The tour is not easy. To have somebody near, some friends, to spend the time and enjoy more the day by day. It helps a lot. In singles, in doubles, it’s not easy to do this life alone. So to have the opportunity to share it with a friend. And to speak in the days and go to dinner, have fun. It’s very important.”
Jasmine Paolini and her doubles partner are now moving ahead in the tournament, vying for a third title this season. But not only in the doubles, even in the singles, Paolini will always have Errani’s guidance to achieve more success on-court at Roland Garros.
