In an exciting first round clash of the Indian Wells 2021, Czech player Katerina Siniakova defeated Kim Clijsters in three sets. Even though Siniakova lost the middle set, she managed to pull up her socks in the third one and delivered there. The final scoreline of the match was 6-1, 2-6, 6-2.
It has not been turning well for Kim Clijsters since she has come out of her retirement. The former World No.1 player has now lost two back-to-back matches in two different tournaments.

“Really special”- Katerina Siniakova after her win against Kim Clijsters
In the post-match interview, Siniakova mentioned that it was a really special win for her. She even stated that as a young girl, she used to watch Clijsters play on tour and thus, she couldn’t believe that she not only just faced her but managed to beat her as well.
“It was really special. I was actually looking forward [to this], because I remember when I was young, and I was watching her play, and she always did amazing. So it’s unbelievable I could stay with her on the court,” said Siniakova in the interview.

“Not going to be a smooth ride”- Clijsters
Talking to the press after her defeat, Clijsters revealed that she knows it’s not going to easy for her to make a return to the court. However, she feels that she is going to improve her gameplay and come back strong.

“I think overall, there’s definitely moments where I’m feeling really good out there, and there’s moments where I feel too inconsistent. That’s part of this process in general, it’s not going to be a smooth ride, and that’s what I’m going to try to improve every time I’m out there,” explained Clijsters in the interview.

As of now, nobody knows where will Kim Clijsters play next. However, fans have huge expectations from her and want her to make an incredible comeback. Will she be able to win a tournament after coming back from her retirement?
