People always have regrets about how they used to dress up, style their hair, or the shoes they wore. And Serena Williams, who let her fashion streak pour onto the court, opened up about her regrets.
Does Serena Williams have any fashion regrets?
Her bold and iconic, both on and off-the-court, outfits have always been the talk of the town. And Williams has owned each one of them. From her beaded hair to her ‘controversial’ catsuit outfit at the 2018 French Open, Williams took pride in them. So, in the podcast ‘The Run-Through with Vogue’, Williams opened up about any fashion regrets.
She proudly said, “I don’t have fashion regrets. Fashion is about time. The thing that you wanted in the 90s or the 2000s, I should say, was cool at the time and it was amazing.” Elaborating on the same point, she said, “It’s cringe maybe now, but it’s gonna be back in style and we are gonna look back… So, I don’t have any fashion regrets.”
To prove it by giving her own example, she said, “And I have worn some really awful things. But I was expressing myself at that time and I am leaning into that.”
The confidence of Serena Williams to pull off any dress or outfit on the court was the reason they have made it to the most iconic outfits in the tennis realm, too.

Williams’ Andre Agassi-denim-inspired outfit
Staying true to her bold nature, the American tennis icon once took inspiration from the 8-time Grand Slam champion, Andre Agassi. Agassi’s denim shorts baffled the tennis audience in the 90s and Williams knew it was time for people to brace themselves for the changing face of WTA too.
She asked for a denim skirt design for the 2004 US Open from Nike and the designers did not let her down. The skirt was sports-friendly as it helped the former world no. 1 get sealed as a fashion icon in tennis.
