The American tennis legend, Venus Williams, is still competing fiercely on the professional circuit against players younger than her, demonstrating that age is just a number. She is leaving no stone unturned in demonstrating her love for the sport, but is her longevity on the tennis court a significant hurdle for the younger generation seeking to make their way in the tennis world? The seven-time Grand Slam champion turned pro in 1994, and since then she has been unstoppable. Even after facing injuries and having trouble competing, the tennis star has never given up. It has been more than 25 years, and even today, she is trying hard to take over the tennis world.

Evie Dominikovic, a former Australian tennis player who is in the same age-group as Venus, recently appeared on a podcast show called The Match of My Career. The former tennis player in that conversation brought up how Williams’ presence on the tennis circuit might pose a challenge for the younger players, who are eagerly awaiting an opportunity to show off their tennis prowess.

She said, “Look, I look at these younger kids that are up and coming and I think that it’s a shame that they didn’t have that opportunity, and someone like Venus Williams has taken that wild card. I mean, good on earth, it’s great.”

Moreover, while discussing future generations’ opportunities, Dominikovic gave an example of how the seven-time Grand Slam champion may have unknowingly taken over the younger tennis stars’ chance to participate as a wild card in any of the renowned tournaments.
