‘Queen of Clay’ Iga Swiatek who holds the highest win percentage on clay in the WTA 1000 tournaments, has won four Grand Slam titles in her career. Interestingly three of those four are in the French Open. Recently, she demolished Aryna Sabalenka by 6-2,6-3 to win her third title in Rome. She has now become the first woman to complete the dirt double of winning titles both in Madrid and Rome back to back since Serena Williams in 2013. But is Iga Swiatek a one-surface player?

After her emphatic victory in the finals, Iga Swiatek was showered with a bundle of questions regarding her dominance on clay courts. One of the reporters highlighted her remarkable statistics on the clay courts. The reporter asked her why she is not so dominant on other surfaces even though many opine that the surfaces are much more similar than they were 20 years ago. To this, Swiatek looked a bit surprised and asked the reporter, “You think the surfaces are the same?” The media personnel kept on highlighting Iga Swiatek’s record on other non-clay court surfaces.

Then Swiatek asked the reporter, “Have you played on each of these surfaces?” She elaborated her question a bit and added, “Have you played on each of these surfaces you’re talking about?” To this, the reporter got a bit puzzled and stated that they believed she must win everywhere because of the way she plays nowadays. Iga Swiatek thanked the reporter on this and then went on to explain that all these surfaces are different so results also come quite different.

Iga Swiatek didn’t drop a single set at the Foro Italico this year. Currently, she has also extended her winning streak to 12 matches. Can she carry forward this run to the Roland Garros? That’s something which is surely gonna be interesting to watch from the world’s number one tennis star.
