Paula Badosa recently showed positive signs with a head start in Rome. In her opening match against Mirra Andreeva, the WTA star proved her worth by securing a straight-set victory, which propelled her to the next match against Emma Navarro. However, despite being just an ordinary win, the lead over her opening-round rival proved that she is trying hard to get past the recent physical and mental hurdles.
It hasn’t been long since Paula Badosa marked an end to her relationship with ATP star Stefanos Tsitsipas. While she was already struggling with both physical and mental setbacks because of a persisting back injury, the emotional separation acted as another reason for her lack of focus. On being asked about her current goals, the tennis star denied having any special ones. “Not at all,” she simply stated.
Without even being directly asked about the recent setback, the Spaniard admitted going through a tough phase. “Honestly, I try to enjoy again on the court because I’ve been suffering a lot. I’m not gonna lie, so I want to play as much as possible,” she said, unveiling a desire to keep herself involved with the sport.

Beating around the bush for a while, Badosa ended up revealing her small yet viable goal in the current scenario. “Let’s see if I can play 2-3 matches in a row because it’s been a long time, maybe since Rome last year, that’s when the injury came…So that’s my main goal right now,” she added, discovering the urge to keep playing as her new goal.

“I always had this goal to be one of the best in the world and to win tournaments and face the big players. That’s why I’m here,” the 26-year-old said, mentioning the initial reason for which she entered the sport. Expressing her desire for an extended life as a player, she added, “For me, being able to play three or four more years would be amazing.”
