The former World Number 7 has received a kind draw at the Italian Open, and none of her compatriots will come in her path during the early rounds. Moreover, she received a bye in the opening round and will take on the winner of the match between Diane Parry and Anna Blinkova in the second round.

A stiff challenge for Collins will actually come in the fourth round when she will potentially face Elena Rybakina for a place in the Italian Open quarterfinals. They have had an intriguing rivalry, and most of their matches are closely contested. Rybakina has a slight upper hand, winning 3 of the 5 matches, played against Collins.
