The clay season is in full swing and some of the best players in the world are going head-to-head against each other. Thus, despite multiple complaints, Katie Volynet’s words weren’t taken into consideration. While many thought that she would quit after her injury, she stunned everyone by announcing to continue the match. And, in an interesting series of events, she even managed to bag the win in her favor.

In a match that went to a three-set thriller, Katie Volynets came out on top and managed to secure her place in the main draw of the event. While having a 2-1 lead, she sustained the injury. However, she bounced back up and quickly had a 5-1 lead. But, when everyone thought that she was going to close the match in style, her Ukrainian opponent Yulia Starodubtsewa bounced back quickly and managed to make the score 5-4.

At a moment when things started to go from bad to worse for her, she collected all her strength and eventually closed the match by securing a crucial win against her. Thus, in a must-win match for her, she was able to keep the American hopes high and eventually booked another American slot in the main draw of the event.
