Recently, while speaking to a media house, Will Smith, who played the role of Richard Williams in ‘King Richard’. Opened up on the time he got to spend with Venus and Serena Williams. The 53-year-old actor, who has already bagged 5 ‘Best Actor’ Awards for King Richard, elaborated on how it was like to receive the awards in front of the ladies themselves. The Pennsylvanian also spoke about how it was different for the Williams sisters to become a part of the film industry and their way of coping up with it.

Smith recently won the Best Actor Award at the Critics Choice Award (CCA). Even though it was his 5th award for the movie, what made it the most special one for the actor. The presence of Venus and Serena Williams.
Post the ceremony, a photo of Will Smith, along with Williams sisters, wife Jada Smith, and actress Halle Berry surfaced the internet. He also made a special mention about Serena’s presence in the photo. Calling it a ‘fantastic moment‘.
He said, “That was fantastic. That was a beautiful moment. And Serena is right over here. They didn’t have a wide enough angle (laughs). So that was a pretty big night. To accept the award in front of Venus and Serena and Jada and Hallie. It was a beautiful moment.”
Being the executive producers of the movie, Serena and Venus Williams have been highly involved since the initial days of the movie. Being a movie about their father, the two have not just acted as the producers. But have also shown high personal interest, representing King Richard on the biggest of the platforms. However, it has not been something the two are used to of.
Speaking to the media house, Smith opened up about the time spent with the Williams sisters, referring to it as a ‘lovefest’. Adding humor to his answer, the actor also spoke about how the journey has been for Venus and Serena Williams.
“It was a lovefest. Everybody, telling each other how great it is to be here together. And really for Venus and Serena, they have never done this run before. So, they were getting world-class coaching right there,” he said.

Being released at the end of last year, King Richard has been receiving high critical acclaim since then. The Reinaldo Marcus Green directorial has received a number of accolades; five of which being in the category of ‘Best Actor’. Furthermore, the movie has also been nominated for the Academy Awards in 6 categories.
