In the past, she talked about drawing inspiration from the former US President Barack Obama. Back in 2009, she met Obama, and talked about having an interesting conversation with him, particularly about her shoes.
Serena Williams talked about meeting Barack Obama at the White House
Notably, Serena was getting ready to play in the World Team Tennis match with the Washington Kastles in 2009. Before playing that, she met with the then-President Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama. Speaking about her meeting with Obama, Serena said, “It was amazing. I love President Obama; he has such an unbelievable presence, and he seems to be so normal — and he noticed my shoes. I think that was the highlight of the whole day, was he liked my shoes.”
Talking about her shoes, Serena also revealed what Obama said to her. “He asked me, ‘Should I be wearing high heels?’ So I thought that was kind of funny because he may have been right. Because it is a job hazard for me, but I insist on wearing them.”
Notably, Serena talked many times in the past about taking inspiration from the former US President. Moreover, we have also seen Serena attending many events with Michelle Obama as well.
Serena once played tennis with Donald Trump
Speaking about interactions, Serena Williams once played a tennis match with another former US President Donald Trump back in 2015. During the unveiling of a new Tennis Performance Center in Sterling, Serena played a few points with Trump. Interestingly, Trump was playing in a suit. However, he did show some skills with the tennis racket in his hand.
