With the successful completion of the Emilia-Romagna Open and Lyon Open 2021, it is now time for the French Open 2021. Fans are quite excited for the major as it is happening at its usual time this year. However, just before its beginning, they received some sad news as Kirsten Flipkens has decided to withdraw from the Grand Slam.
It is evident that Kirsten Flipkens is not fully fit right now and as a result, decided to skip the French Open 2021. In a tweet, she mentioned that she recently suffered from an ankle injury which forced her to withdraw from the tournament.
Unfortunately I have to announce my withdrawal from Roland Garros due to my ankle injury. I want to be able to be 100% and to give myself 100% when I'm stepping on court.
Ofcourse it hurts to withdrawal from a grand slam. The 1st slam I will be missing in many years.. pic.twitter.com/qHXKpIg8ZR— Kirsten Flipkens (@FlipperKF) May 23, 2021
