Is Emma Navarro's billionaire status overshadowing her tennis talent? What do you think?

Emma Navarro is going to face World No. 2 Aryna Sabalenka later today in the semi-final of the US Open. Let that statement sink in. A player who won the NCAA singles championship last year is in contention for her first-ever Grand Slam this year already. On a meteoric rise, Navarro has captured the attention of the whole country in a short time. Naturally, it invites questions about her personal life.

The American player comes from an interesting background as she is the daughter of billionaire Ben Navarro, the founder of Sherman Financial Group. She is also the granddaughter of Frank Navarro, a former football player and coach. If one looks at it this way, she has strong family backing. But is Emma Navarro dating someone as well?

The short and easy answer to it would be that we’re not sure yet. Navarro’s Instagram account doesn’t reveal anything about a special someone, rather all of it is focused on her craft. The WTA player is 23 and fresh out of college, so it seems unlikely that she would be married. But dating someone under the radar? Well, if that’s the case, she wouldn’t be the first tennis athlete to do it (remember Serena Williams and Maria Sharapova?) but that seems unlikely also!

With her social media accounts filled with her family pictures and the pictures of her dog, Marti, it might be safe to assume that Emma Navarro is currently single. Additionally, she has not been linked to anyone in the past either, which makes the claim stronger. What the new World No. 8 is focusing on solely right now is her tennis, and it has certainly given her great results, as she has gone from almost being obscure on the WTA Tour to stardom. Emma Navarro was ranked 121 about sixteen months ago. Then she reached a career-high of 12 before Flushing, and now a deep run at the US Open has made her ascend to No. 8!

“It’s crazy that I’m able to walk out on Ashe [Stadium] and feel comfortable,” Navarro told the press after her match against Paula Badosa on Tuesday. “Because it’s definitely not my nature to want to be in the spotlight and seek the attention. It’s kind of crazy, my comfort level out there.”

One of the most important things besides tennis for Navarro is her family, especially her dad. While she has credited him for helping her stay strong mentally, Navarro had fresh words of praise for him after her QF victory.

Being a tennis player means one of the most demanding schedules an athlete can have. But in her first year as a pro, Emma Navarro is taking it well. After defeating Paula Badosa in the quarter-final, she said in the post-match interview, “I wanna also thank my dad. I think he saw a vision from the time I was really young. He knew maybe I was a bit ADHD or something to be a sitting in a class room or a 9 to 5. He saw something in me from a young age. So thanks dad for sending me on this journey.”

Emma’s father Ben Navarro can often be found in his daughter’s box during her matches. However, her mother Kelly prefers to stay out of the spotlight. Emma Navarro also thanked her team after her semifinal qualification at the US Open, “It means so much to me. My coach and I have been together since I was 14 or 15. It’s been 8 years now. We’ve done a lot of great work together. Thank you for everything you do, your dedication, all the time you put into this journey, and making me into the player I am.”

Well, wherever the US Open journey takes her from here, this has been an unforgettable campaign for Navarro. And with her stoic and stable way of playing, she’s definitely on a steady path to success.
