The Canadian tennis player has once again started her journey on the WTA Tour after her mental health break. Speaking about her sabbatical, Bianca Andreescu opened up about her past struggles during her interview with The Associated Press at Melbourne Park, reported by AP News. She was struggling with some health issues after her US Open triumph that also hindered her performance on the court.
Moreover, Andreescu also parted ways with her long-time coach during that “hectic” period. Talking about that dark phase, she said, “That was when I started to ask myself the question: Is this worth it? Is this life worth it? Because I was very stressed out with many things: People in my life; the way I was looking at myself in the mirror”.
The 22-year-old player added that she didn’t “feel happy” while holding a tennis racket while indicating that the tennis court was her getaway place. However, Andreescu didn’t have the same exhilaration that she once used to have on the court.
