The age for glory in sports knows no bar. Ask Bianca Andreescu, who caught the world’s attention at a very young age. Making her first main draw appearance at the 2019 US Open, the then 19-year-old Andreescu stunned one and all with her performance at the tournament. She went on to defeat legend Serena Williams in the summit clash to clinch her maiden Grand Slam title. It was a memorable moment for the Canadian star, who etched her name into the history books.

Over the years during her career, Andreescu has received wholehearted support from her parents. Additionally, they are often seen cheering her from the stadium during her matches. Recently, the 23-year-old revealed a piece of advice received from her mother.

Days ago, the Canadian star got featured in the No Challenges Remaining podcast where she talked about her tennis career, her family, responding to critics, etc. During the podcast, Andreescu also opened up about precious advice received from her mother.

Talking about this, Andreescu said, “She’s like unapologetically herself. She just she’s, she’s herself. She doesn’t change for anyone. She’s very outspoken. She says what she believes in, and she’s not apologetic about it. And I felt that as a kid.”

Further, she went on to add, “She’s always told me things like, “never give up. Always go for your dreams don’t settle for less.” Those things. And I feel like it just ingrained through my mind. And yeah, I’m glad that it’s you know, transferring on the tennis court as well.”

How has Andreescu performed this season?

With injuries affecting her career post the US Open win, Andreescu has failed to replicate the form shown earlier. This season too, the Canadian star has had early exits from the tournaments. Additionally, she has disappointed in the Grand Slams too. Her best performance in majors this year has been a third-place finish at the French Open and Wimbledon.

Meanwhile, the 23-year-old was involved in a controversial defeat at the Citi Open. During the third set, Andreescu refused to play as a noisy spectator disrupted the match. The security intervened and the match resumed a while later. Andreescu will look to find her lost form as she aims to dig deep at the US Open coming up later this month.
