After a semifinal finish at the Dubai Tennis Championship, Iga Świątek is coming to the BNP Paribas Open as the number-one-seeded participant. In the initial rounds, the Polish tennis star swept aside the likes of Danielle Collins, Linda Nosková, and Yulia Putintseva. After being awarded a walkover in the quarterfinals, Świątek then overcame Marta Kostyuk in straight sets, 6-2, 6-1, in the semis.

Maria Sakkari, on the other hand, is coming to the WTA 1000 event after an initial round defeat at the Dubai Tennis Championship. Entering the Indian Wells Masters as the ninth seed, the Greek player defeated Diane Parry, Caroline Garcia, and Diana Shnaider to reach the quarterfinals. The 28-year-old then overcame Emma Navarro before pulling off an upset against third-seeded American Coco Gauff in the semifinals.
Swiatek vs Sakkari: Head-to-Head
The final game between Iga Świątek and Maria Sakkari at the outdoor hardcourt event will mark their sixth meeting on the WTA Tour. In their previous encounters at the 2o22 Indian Wells and Doha Opens the Pole emerged victorious in straight sets. However, it is the Greek player who currently has a 3-2 lead in their H2H record.

This season, the Pole has already marked a triumphant run on the outdoor hard courts at the Qatar Open.
