Serena Williams’ husband isn’t just a tech genius and investor—he’s got some serious kitchen skills too. That’s right, Alexis Ohanian isn’t just building companies; he’s flipping pancakes like a pro. And not just any pancakes—these are the kind of edible art that would put your average breakfast spread to shame. But this time, he switched things up a bit! Distance clearly doesn’t stop the tradition.

Every weekend, Ohanian steps into the kitchen to make “papa pancakes” for his daughters, Olympia and Adira. It’s a sweet tradition he picked up from his own father, and he’s taken it to the next level. We’re not talking about simple circles or smiley faces here—Ohanian crafts intricate designs, from hamburgers to Disney princesses, making sure breakfast is never boring.

The super dad recently whipped up some crêpes, sharing the moment on X with a touch of excitement. “Missed making my girls crêpes on Saturday, so here we are. Beurre from France!!🇫🇷” he posted.

The Reddit co-founder didn’t just wake up one day with expert pancake artistry. His daughter’s enthusiasm for his designs pushed him to level up. So, like any dedicated dad, he went all in—purchasing a commercial-grade crêpe maker from a French grandmother to perfect his technique. That’s some serious commitment to breakfast.

The 41-year-old’s pancake creations have set the bar so high that even restaurant pancakes don’t quite measure up. During a trip to Los Angeles in 2024, Olympia got a taste of professionally made pancakes for the first time. She liked them well enough, but something was missing. “I just took her to a place called Griddle Cafe in LA, which was one of my favorites,” Ohanian shared. “Going back to restaurants that I went to as a single dude in his 20s, and then going with your child a decade or two later, it’s a trip. Those pancakes she liked were fine. Neither of them shaped like her favorite princess, though.”

Beyond the kitchen, Serena Williams’ husband is known for juggling multiple roles with ease. Whether he’s advocating for female athletes, running businesses, or being a hands-on dad, he seems to do it all without missing a beat. Naturally, people can’t help but wonder—how does he manage it all?

Alexis Ohanian reveals his work-life balance secret

Alexis Ohanian has a very different take on the subject. In 2023, he made waves when he called work-life balance a “farce.” He explained his philosophy on X. Serena William’s better half said, “Work-life balance is a farce. If you’re chasing that, you’re doing it wrong. You’ll never achieve anything close to that, nor should you. The key to managing work and life is knowing when you want to focus on which part—accepting that it’s a shifting equilibrium.”

His stance hasn’t changed. In a recent episode of his Business Dad podcast, he doubled down on the idea that work and home life aren’t separate worlds. “I think regardless of the industry, the top practitioners all have a way of thinking that has been informed by their family life,” he said.

Because, yeah, I mean, yes, our work lives often take up as much or more time than we spend with our families. But the two are not separate, they bleed into each other all the time. I think the idea of it being a separate thing, like ‘Oh you come home from work and you’re back home’ versus you’re at the office now, and home life is separate. It always was an illusion that previous generations kind of papered around. But it’s falling apart now,” Ohanian further added.

For Ohanian, it’s all about knowing when to shift gears rather than striving for an impossible balance. One moment he’s making investments, the next he’s making crêpes. And somehow, he makes it all look easy.
