Donald Trump talked about Martina Navratilova buying an apartment at the Trump Tower
In an interview with GQ in 1984, Trump talked about the NFL, projects in New York, and many other things. During this interview, he revealed one interesting story about watching Martina Navratilova at the US Open. He said, “I was watching the U.S. Open on television when Martina Navratilova won… She moved to the microphone, put down her trophy, and said something to the effect of, ‘I thank you for the check. Now I’m going to buy an apartment at Trump Plaza in New York.’ Now this is in a stadium filled with 20,000 people, on national television, international television, probably world television, and she said, ‘I’m going to take this check and immediately run over and buy an apartment at Trump Plaza.'”
Over the years, Navratilova’s opinion about Trump has certainly changed, as she criticized him often during and after his time as the US President. In a tweet, she once wrote, “Donald Trump’s Shocking Success, -wow. Now what? Am speechless.”
