However, with time, the Williams sisters started enjoying the sport. Apart from her love for the game, Serena had multiple reasons to love her job. The 41-year-old recently spoke about it at the Wilson Tennis Family Dinner.
Why Serena loved her job as a tennis player
At Wilson Tennis Family Dinner, Serena Williams joined fellow American tennis legend Billie Jean King and a few other future stars. It was a lovely set up to have a friendly dinner chat about tennis. Here, Serena revealed the reason she started playing tennis. Further, the 41-year-old revealed why she loved it as a job.
“I play tennis because my dad put me in it and then Venus played and I literally do everything that Venus does or I used to do,” she said.
Serena further added, “I’m trying to grow up. Then I have got pretty good at it and I love to win, yeah, so I just kept going. And it’s fun, think I had fun. And it’s a really cool job. You get to travel the world and beyond and be on big stages and it’s like you are performing and I can’t sing, so it was like the next best thing.”
It was lovely to see the seniors imparting their knowledge and experience to the younger generation. While Serena could have hated tennis when her father introduced her, she chose to make herself the best and ended up loving it.
