Within that duration, the 27-year-old took part in almost every major event. However, apart from the quarterfinal run in the Monterrey Open, she failed to leave an impact on any of the tournament.Further, Svitolina has openly supported the ban Wimbledon imposed as she believes that the silence of these players is having an adverse effect on the ongoing Ukranian crisis. Though the 2019 Wimbledon semifinalist also clarified that she doesn’t hold any ill feelings towards Russian and Belarusian players.
At the same time, Wimbledon will not award any ranking points this year. This has caused further frustration and confusion among players, with some contemplating on skipping the tournament altogether. Many players also have considered Wimbledon to be an exhibition tournament this year because of the absence of ranking points.
