Emma Navarro making it big—Does this prove that parental support is the ultimate game-changer?

Emma Navarro’s first time playing the Charleston Open was no walk in the park for her father. While she has now made a name for herself in the tennis world with her competitive spirit, first times are always tough. Back in 2019, her father, Ben Navarro, who is the tournament owner for Charleston, shared his initial words after his daughter’s early debut in the same tournament.

During the 2019 Charleston Open, Emma and her father sat down with the Tennis Channel to talk about the event and the American WTA star’s involvement in it. At the same time, he shared his reaction, “I’d be lying if I didn’t say I lost a couple nights sleep going up into the tournament because it’s the first time she had a chance to play on a stage like that, and you just don’t know.”

Further, he continued, “I know if I had to do it I probably wouldn’t have been able to swing the racket. So the fact that she was able to go out and really be all that she is just was thrilling for me. If you make me talk about it too much, I’ll start crying right here on the set.”
