Iga Swiatek is all set to start the next dominant era in women’s tennis, but she has a rival in Ons Jabeur. Like the Evert-Navratilova era, people are expecting to see some healthy competition between the incumbent World no.1 and the former World no.2. Recently, the two locked horns in the summit clash of the US Open.
Although Swiatek dominated the Tunisian in the final and claimed her second major title of the season, Jabeur was all praise for her rival. In the post-match press conference, instead of swearing revenge, the Tunisian star chose something else. Here’s what she demanded.

On what terms will Ons Jabeur forgive Swiatek?
While speaking to the press, Jabeur spoke about her statement of not liking Swiatek. She, after reasoning her defeat, jokingly demanded a Rolex watch to let go of her anger. She said, “Yeah, we’ll play each other in the Finals, I think so. Maybe we’ll be different groups. I don’t know. But, yeah, catching up in the ranking, I know she has a lot of defending points, I have none. That’s kind of the goal.”
“It will always be great to compete against Iga. I was joking when I said I don’t like her. I’ll forgive her when she gives me a Rolex or something (smiling),” she added. The Tunisian who reached the finals by outclassing the Cincinnati Masters champion, Caroline Garcia, lost her second Grand Slam final this season to the 2 times French Open champion. Swiatek got the better of her in straight sets of 6-2 7-6(5).
Speaking of their earlier meetings, the two top WTA players claimed their career highest ranking this season. Though Jabeur, who had a 2-1 lead against the Pole, incurred defeat in every encounter this year.
