Coco Gauff is doing wonders in the tennis world at the moment. After American tennis saw the domination of Serena Williams, the young American star has taken off from exactly when the 23-time grand slam champion left and is leaving her mark in the game. Coming into the French Open, she made her way into the tournament’s semi-finals before suffering elimination at the hands of Iga Swiatek.

While she might have bowed out of the tournament, she had many beautiful memories to carry and certainly many records that she broke. Despite facing a semi-final elimination, she rose one spot further in the WTA rankings and reached her career best of world number 2 while overthrowing Aryna Sabalenka. The Belarusian beauty, who suffered a shocking quarter-final elimination is not third in the ranking.

Stunned by her achievement, Coco Gauff could not hide her excitement and she took to her Instagram to post the story and celebrated her feat as the new world number 2. ESPN page took a moment to celebrate Coco Gauff’s new milestone and she was quick to celebrate the new milestone she had achieved. The American star will now sit with 7,988 points to her name while Aryna Sabalenka will have 7,788 points to her name.

Thus, Coco Guaff, who was recently crowned as the world number 2 player, celebrated her new milestone despite her loss in the semi-finals. The WTA ratings, which will be updated this coming Monday will see Gauff officially as the new world number 2 player. Apart from attaining a new milestone, she also broke multiple records.

Coco Gauff has had a brilliant campaign in the French Open this year. While she was not able to lay her hands on the title, she even bagged multiple records to her name. She joined the likes of Maria Sharapova as she became the youngest woman to reach the semi-finals of three consecutive grand slams.

She also became the third American woman after Chris Evert and Andrea Jaeger to reach multiple grand slam semi-finals of the Roland Garros. Thus, Coco Gauff, who is doing wonders in the tennis world right now recently bagged a new milestone to her name.
